so who is Captain Marvel from Doctor Strange 2? It’s not the Illuminati universe’s Carol Danvers, but the familiar face of the cosmic female protagonist in very different roles.

Read on as we analyze Captain Marvel’s questions in Doctor Strange 2. We don’t know who plays her, the history of her character, and how she might have acquired those abilities.

Who is Captain Marvel in Doctor Strange 2?

Doctor Strange 2’s Captain Marvel is Maria Rambo of Earth-838, played by Lashana Lynch. The MCU (or Earth-616) version of Maria was first introduced in Captain Marvel as Carol Danvers’ girlfriend and former Air Force colleague.

In the MCU, we discover that she founded SWORD and later died a few years after Thanos’ snap. Their daughter Monica Rambeau later took on the role of Photon during a WandaVision event.

However, this variant of Maria Rambeau in Doctor Strange 2 is part of the Illuminati, a superhero group that oversees major decisions about Earth-838. She appears to have the same abilities as her MCU opponent Captain Marvel.

She meets a cruel end at the hands of Wanda. She is the last member of the Illuminati to fall in battle against the Scarlet Witch, except for Mordo, who was crushed by frostbite during her encounter.

Doctor Strange 2 doesn’t explain how Maria Rambo became Captain Marvel on Earth instead of Carol Danvers. Marvel What… If? Loki helps us fill in some gaps.

They introduced us to “variants,” alternative versions of the characters we know and love from the MCU that exist in different universes and realities. In some cases, it may look identical to an MCU (as here), or it may look completely different. See also: Spider-Man by Alligator Loki and Andrew Garfield (if the Earth-616 version is Tom Holland).

Their paths may be similar, but they can steer in dramatically different directions. For example what… when? Imagine a world infused with Super Soldier Serum in Peggy Carter, not Steve Rogers. It is suggested that this Maria, not Danvers, may have been chosen by Kree after the luminous engine experiment went wrong, is Mr. It’s not a Fantastic-esque stretch.

She meets a grisly end at the hand of Wanda; she ends up crushed by a statue during their encounter and is the last Illuminati member – barring Mordo – to fall in battle with the Scarlet Witch.
