The Omen prequel in the works from the director of Legion

A prequel to The Omen is in development at 20th Century Studios. Titled The First Omen, the film will predate the original 1976 film in the chronicle of the Omen film series.

The new movie already has a director attached by the deadline. Arkasha Stevenson will make her directorial debut on this project after directing episodes of Legion and Briarpatch. Stevenson also directed several episodes of Syfy’s Channel Zero horror series.

The film will be rewritten in which Stevenson will work with his writer partner Tim Smith. David S. Goyer’s Phantom Four will produce the Phantom Four, previously known to have been associated with Apple TV Plus’s Foundation and Hulu’s Hellraiser.

A detailed plot line for the horror sequel has yet to be confirmed. The original film is a cult classic directed by Richard Donner and written by David Seltzer. This was followed by a young child named Damien Thorn, whose father took his place at birth. His mother knows nothing of the exchange that took place after the death of her first child.

But things start to go awry as Damien grows up. A series of violent deaths and mysterious things begin to happen inside and outside her home. This makes her family know that Damian is in fact the Antichrist. The film stars Gregory Peck, Lee Remick, David Warner, Harvey Spencer Stevens and Billy Whitelaw.

Omen has grown into a franchise with several sequels, including Damien: Omen II, Omen III: The Final Conflict, and Omen IV: The Awakening. In 2006, the original film was remade, starring Liv Schreiber, Julia Stiles and David Thewlis. But this will be the first prequel movie.
