The trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder is finally out, and a new teaser reveals the first appearance of Taika Waititi, the second to enter the world of Thor after Thor: Ragnarok.
There were a lot of interesting moments when Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder decided to give up his superhero to reveal himself, Natalie Portman’s Jane Fost became Mighty Thor with a hammer, and Guardians of the Galaxy appeared. But there were also big gaps, such as Christian Bale’s absence of Gorr God Butcher.
The Batman actor will appear as a villain in the Marvel movies, but little has been revealed about his character yet. Thankfully, the new official synopsis brings touching details about Gorr and more details about the direction the new film is headed.
The synopsis reads: “The film discovers Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey he has never known before: a search for inner peace. “But his retreat is to a galaxy named Gorr God Butcher (Christian Bale) who is seeking the annihilation of the gods. Interrupted by the assassin.
To fight the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman). … Mighty Thor. Together they embark on a gruesome space adventure to uncover the secrets of Godslayer’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.”
Although not featured in the trailer, Gorr will play a big part in Thor: Love and Thunder, which will take Mighty Thor out of retirement on his own. This character had a big role in Jason Aaron’s Mighty Thor comic book series, and based on an in-depth analysis of his role in the comics, he looks like he’ll definitely make a formidable foe.
We also got a quick hint of how Gorr would look in the movie after several toys were released ahead of the movie’s July release. The Lego version of his character gave him the first official look at his silver exterior, which looked a little more prominent in the Marvel Legends toy series.
