Kids love simple crafts like this one, so once you get started, a bunch of toilet paper turkeys will be running around.
For kids, you can pre-cut and place everything and have them practice fine motor skills when placing and gluing elements.
This project is a fun Thanksgiving craft. There are many other turkey craft ideas to go with this project.
How to make a turkey toilet paper roll
You will need:
- toilet paper roll
- construction paper
- orange pipe cleaner
- big eyes
- craft glue
- brown optional
step-by-step instructions
Cut the tp rolls in half and keep them round without twisting.
You can leave it as is to minimize confusion. Alternatively, paint the turkey body (tp roller) with brown paint and let it dry.
Cut the rainbow colored construction paper into long strips about ½ inches wide and about 11 inches long.
Fold the strips in half and glue them together. Do not fold, tie in loops. Glue on the back of the small turkey’s body.
You can fill as many as your child wants. If your body gets too heavy, you can heat-seal things like clothespins.
Cut 2-2″ pipe cleaners for each turkey, bend one into a triangle for the beak and stick it in place. Fold the other one in a V shape and attach it to the sole of your foot.
Add a small piece of red construction paper to the back of the beak to help the turkey wobble.
Add googly eyes to complete the face and enjoy with a little turkey.

How to make a turkey toilet paper roll
You will need:
toilet paper rolls
construction paper
orange pipe cleaner
wide eyes
craft glue
optional brown paint
Step by step instructions
Cut the tp rolls in half, try not to crease them and keep their round shape.
You can leave them as is to minimize the mess. Or give your turkey bodies (tp roller) a coat of brown paint and let them dry well.
Cut the construction paper rainbow shades into long strips, about ½” wide by the length of the construction paper, which is about 11”.
Fold the strips in half and stick them together, don’t bend them, just loop them. Glue to the back of your little turkey body.
Your child can fill it in as much as they want. You can hot glue the body to something like a clothespin if it gets too heavy to help it stay upright.
Cut 2-2″ pieces of pipe cleaner for each turkey and bend one into a triangle for the beak, glue it in place. Fold the other one into a V and glue it to the bottom for the feet.
Add a small piece of red construction paper behind the beak for the turkey to waddle.
Paste googly eyes to finish the face and have fun with the little turkey.
