Witcher 3 ‘next-gen’ update postponed indefinitely

An improved version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will not make its release window in the first half of 2022, CD Projekt Red said on Wednesday. The company announced on Twitter, saying he was bringing the project in-house. CD Projekt has not set a new publishing window.
“We have decided to hand over to our internal development team the remaining work on the next-gen version of The Witcher 3: Wild Huntsaid CD Projekt. “We are currently assessing the scope of the work to be done and therefore must postpone the Q2 release until further notice. We will update you as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.”
Saber Interactive, the developers behind the excellent version of wild hunt for Nintendo Switch, had previously worked on the project.
Released in 2015, wild hunt is the most critically acclaimed game in franchise history. Its visual fidelity and mechanical complexity have earned it a place among the best modern PC games, including here at Polygon.
The notoriety gained by the commercial and critical success of wild hunt helped stimulate consumer interest in Cyberpunk 2077, an ambitious title based on a universe created by R. Talsorian Games. Unfortunately, this product was delayed several times before being released in extremely buggy condition. The fallout from this botched posting led to a personal apology from the company’s CEO. Moreover, it took a long period of crisis to bring the game to the finish line.
News from wild huntThe delay comes a month after the company announced that the next title in the Witcher franchise is in development and will use Unreal Engine 5 as part of a “multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games”.
