WizKid Reveals New D&D Miniatures Based On Classic 80s Cartoon
Four of the five characters in the D&D Icons of the Realms: Dragons of Stormwreck Isle set are based on some of the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon’s heroes. The Paladin is based on Eric the cowardly Cavalier, the Fighter is based on Hank, who was a Ranger with a magical Force Bow in the series, the Rogue is Diana, who has ditched her fur bikini and her Thief-Acrobat class in the jump to 5e, and the Wizard is Presto, the formerly bumbling apprentice magician who pulled tricks out of his hat. The fifth character in the set is called the Cleric and she doesn’t appear to be based on anyone from the series.
The official page for D&D Starter Set: Dragons of Stormwreck Isle mentions that it contains five ready-to-play characters, and it’s likely that these are represented by the minis in the set. The design of these characters is probably just a cute reference on the part of the creators of the set, but it will still inspire hope from the fans that the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon could be remade. If Magic: The Gathering can get a Netflix show, then surely there’s a chance that D&D could also make its way to the small screen in the future.
D&D Icons of the Realms: Dragons of Stormwreck Isle will be released in September 2022.
